Why Britney Spears lost custody of children

Britney Spears lost custody of her two children to ex-husband Kevin Federline on Monday “until further order of the court.” Judge Scott Gordon did not give a reason for the ruling, but Spears’ new lawyer Sorrell Trope reveals why the troubled singer lost custody.

It turns out the reason Spears temporarily lost custody is that she was unable to produce a valid California driver’s license at the judges request, and she is accused of not taking a random drug and alcohol test as the judge had ordered in a previous hearing. The court looks at failing to take the required test as the same as not passing the test.

 

“We weren’t able to prove compliance with what the judge ordered,” Troupe said. “Specifically, the judge ordered that by 10 a.m. (Monday) morning, both parties show valid California driving licenses. I’ve been unable to prove evidence of that.”

 

The request for a valid driver’s license came after Spears was charged with misdemeanor hit and run and driving without a valid license. After relinquishing her sons to Federline, Spears applied for a California driver’s license.
