My Future in Social Networking

With the rash of social networking sites on the Internet, I began to ponder one pertinent question: what is my future in social networking?

I believe that social networking will soon become more about networking than it will be about the social aspect. There are several sites that want you to become friends with new people or rekindle friendships with people from the past, but my future of social networking will be about being productive.

In August 2007, I began working for TransWorldNews, writing blogs and news articles, but my job would soon change as I was informed that the company was developing the future of social networking, one that connects businesses, people and musicians. With the new site YourFindit, TransWorldNews was bringing the future to us now.

Social networking was something I was very familiar with and I was eager to assist in the new venture, one that focused more on networking than just being social. The site YourFindit launched several months ago and I’ve been working to make it a top-notch social networking site ever since.

Most of my previous experience in social networking has been through my profile on Facebook. I joined Facebook in the spring of 2005, soon after my school Morehouse College was allowed on the network. Within days, I re-connected with classmates and friends from elementary, middle and high school.

At the time, Morehouse was one of the first Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) on Facebook and the site as a whole was relatively small. It gave its members more privilege as they knew that it was geared solely for undergraduate students, making it cool to be a college student.

However, Facebook made many changes and got a lot larger, allowing for high school students and, eventually, everyone to join. The site became cluttered and the aura of prestige became soured.

With my views on social networking, I began to instill my thoughts to better YourFindit, but its mission was already solid. YourFindit offers members the ability to control their content and image in order to further their careers and goals, as well as enjoy the social aspect of the site. While many sites just want to connect with friends, YourFindit also wants to connect you with future business partners and advertisers. With the addition of the ADit application, members can control their advertising space on their pages and target the companies that best fit the vision of their profiles for ad space.

People can create personal profiles, in addition to business profiles for themselves, in order to separate the two. They can utilize their personal profiles to enjoy the social aspect of YourFindit and their business profiles to network for their careers. If that person is also in a band, they can create a musician profile as well and network with fellow artists and music executives. YourFindit gives members the option to create and cultivate their profiles to match their intentions.

With our proficiency in indexing well on search engines, YourFindit allows people, musicians and businesses to create profiles, maintain their content and promote their image in a way that will be showcased in search results on sites like Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Profiles are equipped with resume submission to apply for jobs, real estate listings to sell or buy property, and blogs for members to broadcast their thoughts as news or press releases.

Here is the list of the 12 applications that are featured on YourFindit:
