  • UPS Plane Crashes In Dubai

    A UPS place carrying two crew members crashed shortly after taking off from the Dubai International Airport on Friday. According to reports, the Boeing 747 went down around noon in an uninhabited area of a Dubai air force base.The cause of the crash was not immediately known. There are conflicting reports on the fate of the two crew members. Bob Lekites, manager of airline and international operations for the United Parcel Service, confirmed a UPS plane headed to Cologne, Germany crashed.

  • Strong 7.4 Earthquake Strikes New Zealand

    A massive 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck New Zealand around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. The epicenter of the earthquake was located about 20 miles west of Christchurch on the South Island.Widespread damage and power outages were reported, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or deaths.     Ferrari has issued a recall for their latest supercar, the 458 Italia, after receiving 5 reports of the luxury cars bursting into flames. The Italian carmaker said it will replace a bonding adhesive attaching the heat-shield to the wheel arch with mechanical fasteners.   • Oil Rig Explodes in Gulf of Mexico, One Injured

    At least one worker was injured when an offshore oil rig exploded Thursday in the Gulf of Mexico. The U.S. Coast Guard says all 13 workers on board the Vermilion Oil Rig 380 survived. The rig is owned by Mariner Energy.It is not yet clear if any oil is leaking from the rig, which is believed to be on fire. Coast Guard official Chris O’Neil said preliminary reports indicate the rig has not been producing oil for the past two months.

    At least 31 people were killed Wednesday after three suicide bombers struck a Shiite procession in Lahore, Pakistan. Authorities say the explosions occurred within a radius of 2,000 feet.The first bomb was detonated as the procession was ending. A police officer tried to stop the bomber, but didn’t catch up with him in time. The second bomb was detonated about four minutes later. It was followed by the third blast about 25 minutes later.
