  • 2,000 Fetuses Discovered at Thailand Temple

    Two morticians of a Buddhist temple in Bangkok, Thailand have been charged with hiding bodies after authorities discovered more than 2,000 illegally aborted fetuses earlier this week. The smell of rotting flesh led to the discovery at the Phai-nguern Chotinaram temple.Police Col. Metee Rakpan said a total of 2,002 fetuses were recovered.

  • Miners Missing After Explosion at New Zealand Coal Mine

    Officials of a coal mining company confirmed at least 27 miners remained missing Friday hours after an explosion at the Pike River coal mine in Atarau. Two injured miners were able to escape. They were taken to Grey Base Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.So far, no fatalities have been reported.   • Four Poachers Arrested For Killing Rare Amur Tiger

    Four men were arrested in the Primorye Province of Russia this week after being caught with a dead Amur tiger. The poachers were caught by an International Fund for Animal Welfare anti-poaching patrol on Monday. One of the men had been injured by the 5-year-old male tiger and was hospitalized.Primorye Province and surrounding areas including parts of China and North Korea are believed to be home to the estimated 400 wild Amur tigers, also known as Siberian tigers, that remain in the world.

  • Jaw Bone Found In Aruba Could Be Of Natalie Holloway

    According to reports, a human jaw bone found on an Aruba beach is being tested to determine if it came from Natalie Holloway. The bone was found last Friday by tourists staying at the Phoenix Hotel. Authorities were alerted and the bone was given to forensic experts for analysis.Holloway was 18 when she disappeared during a high school graduation trip to Aruba in May 2005.     A fire broke out Monday underneath a railroad bridge in New York City. The blaze began shortly before noon, according to Frank Dwyer of the NYC Fire Department.   • Colombia Air Force Bombs Guerrilla Camp, Kills 22

    The Colombian military bombed a FARC camp near the border of Ecuador Sunday, killing at least 22 guerrillas. The camp was located in a jungle area near San Miguel, Putumayo.Defense Minister Rodrigo Rivera says more bodies could be found as troops were still combing the area. Troops also recovered computers and weapons, including 17 riles.

  • Mexican Supreme Court Minister Jesus Pelayo Dies

    Mexican Supreme Court of Justice minister Jesus Gudino Pelayo died Sunday in England. According to reports, Pelayo and his wife were on vacation in London when he suffered a heart attack in his hotel room around 3 p.m. local time. Pelayo, 67, was pronounced dead at the scene.Pelayo served as a judge to the First Hall of the Supreme Court of Justice. Earlier this year Pelayo voted in favor of same-sex marriage and voted in favor of allowing same-sex couples to adopt children.

  • Wildfire in Herriman Utah Caused by Machine Gun Fire

    A wildfire that broke out in Herriman, Utah Sunday afternoon was caused by machine gun fire at the Utah National Guard base at Camp Williams. According to a spokesman for the Unified Fire Authority, the fire was sparked around 12 p.m. by guardsmen practicing with a machine gun.Nearly 150 firefighters worked through the night trying to contain the fire, which burned about 3,500 acres. At least 4 homes have been destroyed and some 1,500 families have been evacuated from their homes.

  • Terror Suspect Arrested on Plane at Amsterdam Airport

    A Somalia man authorities believe has links to international terrorist organizations was arrested Sunday at Schiphol International Airport in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The suspect was taken into custody on a flight destined for Uganda. He had come from Liverpool, England.The man, who has not been identified, is being questioned by authorities. No other details were available.

  • 3 Dead After Typhoon Fanapi Hits Taiwan

    At least three people died Sunday when Typhoon Fanapi hit Taiwan. State media reports more than 50,000 homes were left without power. No other damages were immediately reported.The dead include a 76-year-old woman who fell into a river and drowned while trying to harvest her crops before the typhoon struck and two students who drowned in a flooded canal.
